From your screenshot you can see that the latest version of DayZ is 1. It still drew a couple of zombies, but slowly 1.77.2.3 that I could take them out. In addition, it uses radians!

I eventually found a village, and figured I might try to sneak in and find some food and water, when the zombies went nuts, turns out someone was already in there, which worked out great as a distraction.
